Lush Lip Scrubs - Review

So, among other things, Lush has introduced three new lip scrubs. I picked up Mint Julips a few weeks ago..here's what I thought.

What Lush says: "When you use Mint Julips, you'll find yourself craving a bowl of mint-chocolate chip ice cream. It's made with invigorating peppermint oil, which will make your lips feel fresh and tingly, along with sweet vanilla extract to lock in moisture and protect your lips. Simply rub it over your lips when you're feeling the desire for some fresh Mint Julips.
Price: $8.95

What I say: This stuff smells and tastes awesome. It leaves your lips really soft and gets rid of any flakies. I can see this coming in handy in the winter . I didn't really find the peppermint oil that invigorating, just a little tingly. I provides a very light moisturizer but if your lips are dry you'll probably need to follow up with a lip balm. It was a little difficult to pick up the product as its very dry and doesn't contain a lot of oil. It's a bit difficult to rub the sugar on your lips without it falling off everywhere...licking my lips before applying seems to make it stick better. You don't need to use a lot of product at all to get the job done which makes it worth the price. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use up all my scrub before it expires!

The Trotsky - Movie Review

So I checked out The Trotsky this week. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie, mostly because I have a mad crush on Jay Baruchel but nevertheless it did not disappoint. The movie follows Leon Bronstein (Baruchel) a Montreal highschool student who believe he is the reincarnation of the Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky. Leon makes it his goal throughout the movie to have the events in his life duplicate those of Trotsky's including marrying an older woman named Alexandra. After his father decides to send him to public school he begins a campaign to introduce a union for students...and essentially all hell breaks loose.

This movie was so unappologitically Canadian. I found it really romanticised Montreal and had many cultural references that I think a lot of people will find amuzing like when Leon goes on e-talk for an interview. I just found this movie presented such a refreshing view of Canada.

The soundtrack for this movie is also amazing. Montreal indie-rock band Malajube did the score for the soundtrack. As well the movie features Toronto rapper K'naan and many other Canadian bands.

Seriously awesome...can't wait to own it on dvd.
